Weekend Things

Another weekend has come and gone!  Usually, I feel like the weekends fly by, but thanks to a school cancellation for snow on Thursday, followed by a scheduled day off on Friday, this weekend was L-O-N-G.

We had an unusually lazy Friday morning, which was nice!

A scheduled day off from school today. Of course, this follows a sick day on Wednesday for Dylan, and a snow cancellation yesterday. Lucky kids! Some minecraft and brunch before heading out for the day! #momlife

We spent the afternoon and evening visiting my parents.  It's our usual Friday routine.  They only live 10 minutes away from us, so we make sure we visit once a week!  My kids love our weekly visit (and I do, too)!

My parents get a lot of snow where they live.  It snowed several times over the past week, so they had mountains of snow all through their town.  The girls had a great time playing in it!

After having dinner with them, we dropped Dylan off at a friend's house, then had a relaxing evening at home.

On Saturday, everyone slept in.  I am so thankful my kids like to sleep! We enjoyed a lazy morning together, and the girls and I had our weekly hot tea date.  I love it so much, and hope we continue this tradition when they are grown!

After that, everything went downhill for me.  I'm just having some struggles with some friendships, and it was really getting to me.  I was having a very difficult time holding back the tears, but I had a full day ahead of me.

After everyone was dressed and showered, we went to visit Grant's mom and Nannie.  We typically do that on Sundays, so it was a nice change of pace.  Liam almost slept through the entire visit!

On our way home, we picked up my niece, Aubrey, for a sleepover at our house.  Grant stayed home with all the girls, while the boys and I headed out for a 4 hour shopping extravaganza. We had some groceries to get, returns to make, some St. Patrick's Day decor to buy, and then some. Let's face it.  Sometimes retail therapy helps.

Even though I was feeling down, I had a great time with my boys.  Dylan is getting older, and we don't get enough time together anymore.  It was great spending time with mostly just him.  Liam napped through half of it, we had the chance to talk, and we bonded over Icee's and soft pretzels.  It was exactly what we needed to do.

After returning home, everyone changed into pjs and spent the evening relaxing. The girls fell asleep on the couch with their American Girl dolls next to them, Dylan and Lily spent some time on their devices, and Liam giggled his way through bedtime.

I had some time to myself, so I took a bath, then spent way too much time on my phone.  I glanced at my phone, saw it was 1:58, and the next thing I knew, it was 3:05.  Hello, Daylight Savings Time!

I fell asleep quickly, slept through the night for the first time in a long time, and when I opened my eyes, it was 12:20!  Whoa!  I haven't slept that late in years.  Grant woke up with the older kids, but Liam was still asleep.  He went to bed late after our shopping trip, but still slept over 14 hours!  He was a happy, well rested dude when he woke up!

After a doughnut brunch, the big kids went outside to play in the glorious 50 degree weather.  Aubrey got picked up, Lily danced around in her new Elsa dress,  and Lexie, Lily, and Liam spent some time together.

Dylan and Grant went out for a bit, so the girls, Liam, and I did some more shopping.  Lexie wanted to spend some birthday gift cards, I had to return some curtains and pick up a few things, and we started shopping for Spring/Summer clothes. Liam napped through the entire trip, so I got to spend some time with my girls.

We picked up some food on our way home, ate dinner together, then got ready for the week ahead.

If I push away all the crappy feelings I felt this weekend, and focus just on those in my household, it was a good weekend.  They make me happy!

  7. I'm glad that you had a good weekend, in spite of having friend issues. I've recently realized that a long term friendship of mine has come to an end. It's hard and it hurts. I sure hope that you find peace in whatever is going on.
