Once you reach a certain age, birthdays aren't very exciting anymore. I would, however, argue that they are so much better. I'm surrounded by so much love these days!
My birthday was simple, but perfect.
It started a bit rough, when I woke up with a nasty cold. When I heard Lexie and Dylan's sweet voices wishing me a happy birthday, it made it all better! After I helped them get ready for school, I gave them hugs and put them on the bus. Lily and Liam were still asleep, so I headed back to bed for a few hours.
I woke up to Grant bringing me breakfast in bed! Liam sat beside me, flashing smiles my way, as I ate. I couldn't help but feel like the luckiest person ever.
My afternoon was quiet. I did T25 (I must be crazy!), took a shower, and cuddled Lily and Liam. Grant's mom stopped by with my present and cookies. When Dylan and Lexie got off the bus, they gave me presents.
All of my children sat beside me as I unwrapped my presents. They get just as excited as they do on their own birthdays!
I put on my new sweater, we loaded the kids into the car, and we dropped them off at my parent's house. Grant and I spent the next few hours on a date. Grant took me to dinner at Red Lobster, then took me shopping for some new clothes. He was wonderfully patient as I tried on clothes, and he pointed out clothing and colors he liked. We spent two hours in the store and he kept encouraging me to buy things because I hardly ever shop for myself. He's a good man!
When we picked the kids up, they all sang happy birthday to me, and my mom sent home a plate of frosted brownies. Lily, unfortunately, was sleeping during all that.
When we got home, I lit the candle again, and Lily quietly sang to me and blew the candle out.
The kids went to bed, and Grant and I spent time together, watching TV. I headed to bed around midnight, feeling very loved!
This birthday was the best one yet, because Liam is here, and our family is complete. I am so blessed to be surrounded by an amazing family and amazing friends. My heart is so full!
