Our Five Ring Circus: Oh, Monday...

Oh, Monday...

The kids were off school today, which meant we got to sleep in, right?  Only...not.  Every time they have a day off I wake up early and can't fall back to sleep!  Yet, on the days they have school, I struggle to stay awake in the morning!

Lexie's cousin had a sleepover at our house last night.  Lexie fell asleep at 11:30, but Aubrey lasted another hour.  So I stayed up another hour. All I wanted to do was go to sleep, but I felt bad that she would be the only one awake. Of course, they were awake by 7:30!

Meanwhile, Dylan had a sleepover at my sister's house.  When I picked him up today, my sister decided we should all go to Long John Silver's for lunch. We only go there once or twice a year, so Dylan was excited!

Right after we sat down, our friends showed up!  We all sat in the back room while the kids ate and played.   They all played with hula hoops and Lily had a great time dancing in the middle of the restaurant!

As we were leaving, my friends offered to take Dylan with them for a while.  Lexie was bummed, so they flagged me down and took her, too! It is really awesome to have such wonderful friends!

Lily fell asleep on the way home, so that gave me silence and free time.  So what did I do?  Clean the bathtub!  Such an exciting life I lead!

Here are a few random thoughts, while taking advantage of a rare, quiet moment:

*This week is going to be ridiculously busy.  I have quite a few scheduling conflicts that need to be worked out!

*Lexie turns 6 on Friday!!! How is that even possible?!?  We have a REALLY fun day planned for her!

*Speaking of her birthday, I still have NO idea what to get her!

*We just got back an additional $4600 from our car insurance company.  After Grant's car was totaled, we were able to pay it off, even though it was under 2 years old, plus we got back $4500 on top of that, which we used for a down payment on his new car. (Hello, run-on sentence!!!) Thanks to an oversight by the insurance adjustor, and thanks to having a replacement vehicle policy, that additional $4600 was a very nice surprise!  We don't have any debt other than our mortgage and a car payment, so all of that went directly into savings!

*I have an exciting post coming up in the next week or two!

*I've decided not to clean my house this week.  Let me rephrase that...I will do dishes, clean up constantly, wipe down counters, etc.  I will not be sweeping or mopping my floors or cleaning my bathroom until the great big cleaning before the birthday party on Saturday!  Speaking of...why do we even bother?  It gets dirty 5 seconds after the party begins!

*Lexie chose a BunBun theme for her party, in honor of her beloved lovey, BunBun.  This makes party planning super easy, thanks to all the Easter stuff out there!

*Dylan has 10 days to decide if he wants to play baseball this year.  He hasn't given me an answer yet!

*I'm getting a new lens for my Nikon! 55-300 mm zoom len or the 35 mm prime lens?   I love both and can't pick a favorite!

On that note, my kids are going to be home in a few minutes, so I have a shower to take and a dinner to cook!

Monday didn't turn out so bad after all!

  5. When i have a super busy week, I will resist major cleaning too. It's not the end of the world to deal with a messy house for a few days and it sure saves time that can be directed someone else.

  7. Your Monday was much better than mine. I spent the day talking on the phone on conference calls and with entirely too many brokers with huge issues!

  8. I would have taken a nap instead of cleaning the bathtub!! Haha yay for insurance! Ours took great care of us too. But with $4600 "extra " - chicka go get BOTH lenses!!! I just got the 40mm and I'm hoping a tax refund will cover that zoom! Then I'm going to have to stop for awhile. Lol
