Ringing in the New Year

We celebrated New Year's Eve a bit differently this year.  It was so much fun!

Usually, we spend the evening with my family, but everybody was doing their own thing this year.  Our friends always invite us to spend New Year's Eve with them, and we were never able to until this year.  I'm so glad we did!

By the time we left to go to the party, the roads were a slippery, snow-covered mess.  We breathed a sigh of relief when we reached their driveway, but ended up getting stuck in the snow and ice.  After shoveling, salting, and pushing, we finally got the car parked.  It wasn't just us.  Everybody else that joined us got stuck, too!

The men ended up spending the first hour outside pushing cars around while the kids played and my friends and I got dinner ready.  Soon enough, everybody was inside.  Some guests arrived in their pajamas, so the girls and I quickly changed into ours.

It was a great night spent with some of our closest friends.  We ate, we talked, we played games, and we laughed.

All the kids were awake as we counted down to the New Year.  It was a fun, memorable night!

Around 1:00, some of our friends started to leave.  We decided to just spent the night.  We were already in our pajamas, and we didn't want to have to battle the snow, the cold, and other drivers that may have been drinking.

As soon as I put Lily in the pack and play, she fell fast asleep.

Everybody else was exhausted, too, so we all headed to bed.

The following morning, we all slept in.  When we woke up, we ended up staying for brunch and to watch the Rose Bowl parade.

We were only home a few hours before we had to go to Grant's Nannie's house for New Year's dinner.

Lily was very eager for dinner to start!  I don't blame her.  It smelled (and tasted!) really good!

Dinner was delicious and we had a great time visiting with Grant's family!

Unfortunately, it was a school night, so we had to leave early to get the kids ready for bed.

2013 was off to a great start!  Here's to a happy, healthy, prosperous New Year!

We usually get together with friends, but the past 2 years someone has gotten sick, so it gets cancelled :(
