365 Project: Week Thirteen

I'm not going to lie.  This past week was hell.  The last thing we ever expected to do was say goodbye to Grant's best friend.  We let loose a bit last night.  My sweet best friend threw me a mini birthday party.  It was a fun, much needed night!!!

We were still reeling from the news of Jason's death.  All plans for the day were canceled, as we attempted to deal with the shock and the pain.

Back to school.  Grant and I attempted a workout at the park, but we forgot the jogging stroller and the wind was fierce.  After just over a mile of wearing Lily, with the wind whipping in my face, I was done.  It felt as if I had gone 10 miles, and we were all freezing!  Had a short playdate at the library after Lexie got out of school.  That evening, we had dinner at our friends' house.  It was a good distraction!

Boring day.  Babysat all day.  Stayed home.

Another day at home.  Attempted a quick photo shoot with Lily.  Mentally prepared ourselves for the next two difficult days ahead of us.

Horrible day.  We spent all day at the funeral home.  We arranged sitters for the older kids, but Lily went with us.  She was such a little angel all day.  We received so many compliments about how well behaved and cute she was. She was a wonderful distraction from all the sadness.  Saying goodbye at the end of the last viewing was horrible.  By the time we picked Dylan and Lexie up, we were completely drained.  Luckily, we were greeted with group of good friends and good food!

What an emotional day.  We attended Jason's funeral service and burial.  It was the last thing I had ever expected to do on this day.  I pray that Jason is at peace, and I pray for his family and friends during the grieving process.  This loss has affected all of us deeply.

We spent the morning and afternoon recovering from the past few days.  I completely cleaned the house.  I have to admit, I let housework slide all last week.  In the evening, we went over to my best friend's house.  She threw me a mini birthday party.  It was so sweet of her! Pizza for dinner, drinks, cake, kids playing...it was such a fun night!

It was a crappy week, but I'm counting my blessings.  Life is good with all these amazing people in it!

P.S. I love the picture of Lily and Lexie sleeping together -- very adorable.

Your kids are ADORABLE and getting SO big... Dylan looks like he's about to graduate high school (Ok not really, but seriously, he is SO big... and I love his shaggy hair!).

  7. It's impossible to start healing until you get through all the proceedings. I hope that you'll be able to start doing that now. So terribly sorry.
