Genius!

The other night, after Dylan went to bed, he began complaining that his hands were cold. I told him to put them under his covers, but he continued to complain. Finally, he fell silent.

When I headed in to check on him before bed, this is what I found:

Problem solved!

Living Treasures

On Friday, Dylan's school was having a building visitation day. We have been to his school several times, but I had to go pick up his ID badge. Dylan really wanted to show his Papa around his new school, so my dad joined us.

I was just amazed at how big and confident he seemed. He proudly gave my dad the tour of the school, and led the way to the Kindergarten hall. Even though the classrooms were locked, he was happy to see where his classroom was, and wanted to wear his badge right away!

I can't believe how grown up he is!

I knew that a girl from Dylan's Pre-K class was in his Kindergarten class, but I didn't recognize any of the other names on the badges. Later that night, we received a wonderful email...Dylan's best friend from Pre-K is in the same class! Dylan is thrilled! And honestly...it makes sending him to school a bit easier. Just a bit.

After visiting the school, my dad treated us to a trip to Living Treasures, which is another local animal park. My entire family has been having a rough week, so my dad wanted to spend some fun time with the kids. I decided to tag along.

Dylan and Lexie are animal lovers, and would spend all day at the zoo if they could! Living Treasures is a nice place to visit, and there's plenty to do.

There were lots of baby animals at the park! Alligator hatchlings, tortoise hatchlings, baby deer, baby buffalo...they were all so cute!

The kids loved the aviary, which is one of the new features. Dylan loved feeding the parrots and cockatiels, but poor Lexie didn't have much luck!

Photobucket

Dylan and Lexie definitely fit in with the animals.

Just like at the animal park we visited last week, the petting zoo was a huge hit. We spent at least an hour in there! Lexie loved the goat that kept eating her dress!

Lexie was fascinated by the camel...but preferred to sit back and watch.

Dylan and I took a ride!

The kids spent a few more minutes with their new friends.

When it was time to go, Lexie announced loudly, "It's just. not. fair!!!"

When I casually mentioned that they could pick out a treat at the gift shop, she booked it out of there! A few minutes later, they were in the car snuggling their new treasures and discussing our next visit.

********************

I apologize for my lack of blog visits lately. My family has a had a lot of things happen this week, and we're all stressed out. On top of that, my insomnia is in full swing. I've only been sleeping 1-4 hours a night, and I'm feeling so overwhelmed. I'm tired for once, so I'm logging off to get some sleep! I promise to make my rounds soon!

Sleeping Beauties

Seriously, I don't think they can get much sweeter than this! I love how BunBun is tucked between them!

The Spillway-Day Trip Part 2

After going to Deer Park last Wednesday, we headed over to The Spillway in Linesville, PA. The Spillway is Pennsylvania's second most popular tourist attraction.

The Spillway is fascinating...and slightly disgusting. I used to love to go feed the fish as a kid. This time, my kids got to feed them!

The Spillway is a place where thousands of huge fish and birds congregate, because people come to feed them all day. There are so many fish crammed into one spot, that the birds are known to walk on top of them. Dylan was amazed when he accidentally dropped an entire hot dog bun in the water and one of the fish swallowed it whole!

Our time at the Spillway ended with the kids devouring big bags of cotton candy.

We stopped at the fish hatchery for a quick visit.

We ended our trip with an early dinner, and then headed home! We all had a fun day!

Day Trip Part One: Pymatuning Deer Park

Last Wednesday, we joined my parents for a day trip to Pymatuning Deer Park and The Spillway.

Almost every weekend in the summer, my dad and I would spend time at both of those places. I love the fact that my kids can now experience these places!

Deer Park is an animal park that is about an hour away from us, in Jamestown, PA. It's called Deer Park because the first thing you see when you walk through the gate is a ton of deer. I personally love deer. I know a lot of people consider them a road hazard or something to hunt, but I think they are beautiful and peaceful.

The park has a nice mix of zoo animals and animals that you can pet and feed. Everywhere you walk, there is an animal to touch, feed, or even hold. It is a fantastic place for kids!

I loved watching my kids experience the zoo. Dylan has been there before, but I think Lexie was in the womb the last time we went. Or a newborn...I honestly can't remember! My animal lovers were completely in their element!

I'll take one of these.

Or these.

These are up for grabs. ;)

Everywhere you walk, there's an animal begging for treats. It's hard to deny any of them!

Photobucket

I just may need one of these for my house. They loved being locked up!

We may have seen a unicorn.

Photobucket

And a giant grizzly.

We went back in time a bit. I just may laugh every time I look at this picture.

After playing with the tortoises, we rode a train.

This guy wanted to join us.

Photobucket

He poked his head into our car to check us out. Eeek! Sorry, buddy, I don't want to take you home!!!

We played on the playset, ate some popcorn, and then stopped for a long visit with the lemur family. This little guy was brand new to the world and oh so cute!

Photobucket

We watched them for a long time. Lexie informed me that she was going to ask Daddy for a real lemur for her birthday. Good luck with that one!

Finally, it was time for the best part. The large, caged in petting zoo!

She tried hard to bring some home with us.

It was difficult to get them out of that section, but we enticed them with pony rides. We may have a horse at home, but these ones were just their size!

We took one last look at our favorite animals, and then headed to the gift shop! It was a great day at one of my favorite places with some of my favorite people!

Stay tuned for part two!
