Weihnachtsmarkt

The past few years, we have kicked off the Christmas season by going to Weihnachsmarkt, a German Christmas Market, in nearby historic Harmony. My dad just happens to be Weihnachtman (the German Santa) every year.

It is always cold and snowing during Weihnachtsmarkt.

Not this year! This year, it was 70+ degrees! As we were driving to Weihnachtsmarkt, the sun was shining down. We were all in short sleeves. We were listening to Christmas music playing on the radio, and looking at Christmas decorations, while watching people walking around in summer clothes. That is a rarity!!!

Lexie was not too sure about her Papa when she first saw him!

She warmed up to him quickly!

The kids love riding on the horse drawn wagon.

Because their Papa is Weinachtman, they get the VIP treatment, by riding in front!

We had a good time. Both the kids were tired, though, so after their wagon rides, we had to leave. It was nice catching up with some family friends that work the event! I have to admit, it was hard getting into the Christmas spirit while it was so warm out!

  1. I can totally relate as it is summer here for Christmas. It's going to be such a shock when we get home. How nice that you have Santa in the fam!

By the way, you must share how you get your photos so large on your blog!!

  2. Adorable pictures. Once again, Abby had the same coat that Lexie has on. Too cute, great minds think alike!
Glad it was a little warmer this year for you.

  4. Candice, I have been able to post them larger since Kelly did my blog makeover. I just upload my pics to photobucket, and resize them to large, then post the code into my blog post. I'm so excited about it! (Thanks, Kelly!)

Erin, we told the kids that Papa works for Santa. ;)

  5. wow how did I miss this event. i swear i must be living under a rock in PA...lol. I never know any of these things that go on...lol. anyway those are adorable pics of lexie..omg I laughed so hard at that one where she was unsure of her gpa. I also just realized last week that you can post larger pics by posting them through photobucket first. except i no longer have a camera so that does me no good.

  8. One of my favorite things about living in Germany was the Weihnachtsmarkts. I would travel around to different cities each week just to check out all the different ones. And your dad makes a great Weihnachtsman too :)
