Talented Toddler

Dylan absolutely loves Star Wars. He has all the action figures, and knows about every character. He walks around humming the Star Wars theme and the Imperial March. Today, Lexie started singing the Imperial March...in perfect tune. It was unbelievable! I thought I was imagining it, since her pitch was perfect, but she did it twice more. I suppose she inherited the singing gene, too! Of course, instead of humming the Imperial March, she used the word ball, since she was carrying one. Ball ball ball-ball ball ball-ball ball ball-ball!

I'll start with some updates

Life has been extremely busy over the past few months. We have a lot of things going on right now, and the kids are growing up so fast.
Lexie just turned 18 months old on the 22nd. She is all toddler right now, and such a little diva. She is so feisty...but in all honesty, I love it. She is so adorable, that sometimes I just want to pick her up and squeeze her! She apparently inherited the same "tall" gene that Dylan has. Seriously, my kids are huge...they are both vastly taller than other kids in their age group. Dylan is still as skinny as ever, but Lexie is a bit more solid! Lexie's obsession is baby dolls. She has loved them since she was 9 months old, and is quite the little mommy. She already has a big collection (same goes for books and balls)! She is experiencing a vocabulary explosion right now, and says several new words a day. Unfortunately, she usually refuses to show off her new vocabulary. On the negative side, she has become an incredibly picky eater. She loves most breakfast foods, but pretty much hates everything else. I can't get her to eat any fruit or meat. At all. Meals are incredibly frustrating in this household.
Dylan is now 3 1/2. Actually, just 3 months away from turning 4. I can't take that. It seems so old and he's my BABY! Since June, he has been battling a bout of rashes, and was diagnosed with Papular Acrodermatitis. I'll blog more about THAT topic later. Let's just say, the past 2 months have been rough, especially the past month of mood swings caused by his medicine. He is still very tall (he has been mistaken for a 5 year old several times over the past 2 weeks) and still very thin in comparison to his height. He is currently loving Star Wars. Anything to do with Star Wars makes him happy. What makes him even happier, is playing with his cousins, Brady and Brandon, who just moved back home from Virginia (I am super excited to have my sister and nephews home!).
Other than the kids keeping us running, we have been very busy with lots of family events. We started our "home remodeling" project over memorial day weekend, but thanks to the constant activity, we are still working on the first room. We should be done with it in the next few weeks, but I have to say, our kitchen looks amazing, and we did it ALL ourselves!
Oh-and for one final bit of family news- I have a new niece. Emily Grace was born on August 19th! She is absolutely beautiful. That brings my niece/nephew count up to 17 kids! My family just keeps getting bigger!

Blogging it is....

Well, after months of contemplating whether I wanted to have a blog or not, I decided to go for it. For some reason, I can't seem to keep up with writing in my journal, so hopefully this will help me document memories. Now it comes down to keeping this updated. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with the task!
